There are high energy reactions that are an extremely vital part of synthetic chemistry however, they can often be underutilized due to the hazardous nature and complexity of setup. The Flow Reactor IceCubeTM was designed to overcome these issues as it provides a user friendly and safe instrument. This flow reactor was also developed for performing reactions such as lithiation, diazotization, azide formation, nitration, and ozonolysis at low temperatures to increase safety.
The flow reactor IceCubeTM uses Peltier plate technology that cools down to -70°C or -50 °C using only tap water and electricity. The reaction channel is made up of a Teflon Tube that has variable lengths embodied in a metallic plate which is fixed to the Peltier plate. Reagents are delivered into a temperature-controlled reaction zone continuously and the product can be collected easily in a vial, flask, or vessel.
There is a highly efficient heat exchange between the reaction channel and metallic plates which provides accurate control of temperature. The powerful reaction heat dissipation system makes it extremely safe to use.
The flow reactor IceCubeTM has two reaction zones that have controlled temperature. Each of them is placed on a metallic plate which the Teflon reaction channel has been placed in the desired configuration. This flow reactor allows for multiple set-ups which makes the instrument highly versatile and customisable.
The IceCubeTM has two reaction zones that can be operated at different temperature. The main zone being cooled down to -70°C or -50 °C and heated up to 80°C. The quenching zone can be used between -30°C and 80°C. The instrument is extremely versatile due to this.
Due to the low and well controlled temperatures that are achieved in this flow reactor system, the reactions that are considered to typically be complicated and dangerous are now easy to carry out and can be done in a safe way.
Once the configuration of the reaction is planned, it is simple to set up as the user coils the Teflon tubes in the metal plates, place the plates on the reaction zones, connect the inlet and outlet lines, set up the reaction parameters, and the system is ready to use.
The IceCube System is composed of four different modules: Ozone, Pump, Reactor, and Control Module. The system is highly customisable because of this and the modules can be configured or purchased separately to match the needs of the selected application.
This is a safe and efficient way of generating ozone from oxygen as the oxygen amount is precisely controlled through the built-in mass flow controller. The system can be used as a powerful compact standalone ozonier.
This is a versatile reactor that can control extremely exothermic reactions safely and simply. The reactor is composed of two reactor plates with Peltier heating/cooling, the main zone works from -70°C or -50 °C to 80 °C and the secondary from -30 °C to 80 °C. It is made of PTFE embedded in a pair of aluminium plates and has many different volumes and arrangements for wide chemical compatibility. The system can be configured for 2, 3 or 4 reactants in one set of conditions. There risk associated with dangerous intermediates is eliminated with this system.
This consists of 2 rotary piston pumps that have good chemical compatibility. The pumps are connected to two 3-way valves that control the path of the reactant or solvent within the reactor. There are single or multiple pump modules that can be purchased depending on the users need.
This module allows the control of all the other parts as a whole system by using a touchscreen interface.
