As you may be aware heavy rainfall and flooding have wreaked devastation across parts of western Europe resulting in floods in many areas. Parts of Switzerland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands have been affected, but the most severe flooding is reportedly in Germany and Belgium. Here at Lab Unlimited, we fulfil orders from our logistic centres in the Republic of Ireland, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Our largest dispatch HUB is situated in Meckenheim, Germany. The streets of Meckenheim are still largely under water with main roads closed and whole villages without electricity and clean water. Although it was affected, Meckenheim suffered to a much lesser extent than surrounding villages that our colleagues reside in.
Thankfully, we can gladly report that all our colleagues are safe, and our warehouse has not been impacted drastically by the flooding. However, many employee’s homes have been damaged, those team members currently unable to attend work due to the devastation caused by the flooding and heavy rainfall.
For our colleagues in Germany, this means the logistics centre is now working at a reduced capacity as 30% of the team are currently absent. As a result, there are significant delays in the warehouse, exacerbated by the destruction of the nearby A61 highway which will have an impact on incoming deliveries.
We are communicating regularly with our German counterparts and we will keep all our customers updated on the situation and impact on orders placed. We can confirm every effort is being made to resume normal processing as quickly as possible.
Dispatches from our hubs in Dublin and Camberley are operating as normal, there may be delays to some orders due to the impact on inbound deliveries from Meckenheim. We are still accepting orders and fulfilling them as best as possible from our two other hubs. New orders can still be placed on our website and deliveries will be queued for shipment once the warehouse is able to process them.
