Rotor mills offer rapid, high-speed size reduction for soft to medium-hard, temperature-sensitive, and fibrous materials.

The Ultra Centrifugal Mill ZM 300 (110–120 V) delivers outstanding grinding performance with effortless operation. Its adjustable speed range of 6,000 to 23,000 rpm enables gentle, analysis-neutral sample preparation in exceptionally short processing times.

An integrated temperature monitoring system ensures consistent, reproducible results — even during extended grinding runs or when processing large sample volumes.

With a comprehensive range of compatible rotors, ring sieves, and cassettes, the ZM 300 (110–120 V) is a versatile solution designed to handle a wide variety of size-reduction applications.

The standard for food and feed

  • Gentle, high-speed pulverisation through pre- and fine-grinding in a single working run

  • Optimal process control and reproducibility ensured by continuous cassette temperature monitoring

  • Patented cassette system for maximum sample recovery and effortless cleaning

  • An optional cassette is available for sample volumes up to 600 ml

  • Wide speed range from 6,000 to 23,000 rpm

  • Defined final fineness achieved with ring sieves featuring aperture sizes from 0.08 to 10 mm

  • Collection vessels available for sample volumes from 250 ml to 4.5 l

  • Automated vibratory feeder and various cyclone systems available

Cryogenic Grinding

Cryogenic, or cold, grinding is the ideal method for pulverising samples that cannot be comminuted to the required fineness at room temperature. This technique uses grinding aids such as liquid nitrogen (-196 °C, embrittling the sample outside the mill) or dry ice (-78 °C, sample/dry ice mixture) to cool and embrittle the material, thereby improving its fracture behaviour.

Cooling also helps preserve highly volatile components within the sample. Cryogenic grinding can be carried out easily with the ZM 300 and is particularly recommended for plastics or extremely temperature-sensitive materials. The process is demonstrated in the accompanying video using the predecessor model, the ZM 200, which operates identically to the ZM 300 in this application.

Ideal for Light and Heat-Sensitive Materials

When used with the cyclone suction unit, the Ultra Centrifugal Mill ZM 300 is also suitable for processing light or heat-sensitive samples.

  • Efficient cooling of both the sample and the grinding tools

  • Enhanced sample discharge from the grinding chamber

  • Particularly effective for large sample volumes

  • Cyclone compatible with 0.25, 3, and 5 litre sample bottles

  • Perfectly suited for cryogenic grinding
