Understanding the microbiological activity in water is one of the most important water monitoring considerations to ensure maintenance of adequate water quality standards. However, rapid automated (online) measurement has not been available - until now!!
VWM's ColiMinder® is a fast, ultrasensitive and fully automated measurement system to detect microbial organisms in water. It is based on the measurement of specific enzymatic activity in target microorganisms using an optimized biochemical protocol and patented fluorescence photometric techniques. This solution can perform up to 84 tests per day, it can detect very dynamic contamination patterns.
The ColiMinder® is suitable for long-term monitoring of bio-contaminated water samples. The inut can be deplyed in applications subject to tough environmental conditions.
How It Works?
The approximate measurement time for the ColiMinder® takes 15 min followed by a 9 min cleaning cycle. There are both continuous and interval working modes available. Within continuous mode, there is an ability to perform up to 84 measurements per day depending upon cleaning programme. Interval mode enables the ability to manually set the time between the measurements. Furthermore, as there are 2 sample intakes (more by request) making this perfect for process monitoring applications, interval mode, can alternate between samples intakes.
How Can I see My Data?
Connectivity is a standout feature for the ColiMinder®. The device stores all measurement data locally, while still enabling the ability to view and store data in many ways. Measurement results can be examined in the following manners:
Available through RS232/RS485 or Modbus TCP
Directly transmitted to a server (requires LAN or WLAN connection)
Export from the server in Excel or CSV format
Copy on to USB flash drive
Streaming data and measurement results can also be analysed on server-side using ColiMinder® visualization tools.
In addition to these features, an automatic warning notification (per E-mail or SMS) can be configured and all functions and programming can be performed through remote control (internet or network connection required. The ColiMinder® is able to control ISCO 6700 auto samplers. This can also be controlled remotely through the ColiMinder® remote control feature.

Reagents and Consumables
There are two component measurement reagents (CM Quick Detect) you can use, a cleaning solution (CM Quick Clean) and rinsing water (not provided). Also, with the ColiMinder® no contaminated or hazardous waste is produced.
Reagents are suitable for applications in fresh water. Saline water reagents also available upon request. Reagents holding capacity is up to 1200 measurements.
